The Knitted Fabric
25,00 EUR 37,00 EUR
Dee Hardwicke Brimming with artistic inspiration and filled with patterns for gorgeous knitwear and joyful pieces for the home, this creative and original book invites you to step inside Dee Hardwicke's world. Illustrated throughout with beautiful watercolours and painterly photography, The Knitted Fabric brings the pages of Dee's sketchbooks to life. As Dee explains, “I find the process of knitting very similar to painting, with each stitch being a brushstroke of colour. As stitches loop together, they create a knitted fabric, a kind of narrative of art, making and the people and landscapes that inspire me”. Just like the designs within it, this unique book is something to treasure.

Dee Hardwicke is an artist, designer and knitter whose work is inspired by her passion for colour and by her love of the British landscape. Dee's designs have been used in exclusive collaborations with partners including the National Trust and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Her previous knitting books include A Story in Yarn: How to Design and Knit an Intarsia Heirloom Quilt (Quail Publishing, 2016) and several titles with leading British yarn producers and designers Rowan. Each design begins life in her sketchbooks.

Timeless fashion and modern practicality are the starting points for Molla Mills' Crochet Crush. The 23 crochet patterns include both home decor and accessories, making everyday aesthetics accessible to everyone. Instead of ready-to-buy, Molla encourages her readers to make their own pieces with quality materials and enjoy the slow process. The mind calms down as soon as the first chain loop is crocheted.

ECHOES by Susan Crawford
44,00 EUR
24 Modern Knits Inspired by Iconic Women
Echoes: 24 Modern Knits Inspired by Iconic Women features knitwear patterns dedicated to incredible women — both real and fictional — who have influenced the designer Susan Crawford’s life. The array of icons includes authors such as Beatrix Potter and Virginia Woolf, the musicians Cyndi Lauper and Kate Bush, as well as activists, artists, garden designers and more.

This versatile collection features a variety of styles and techniques. It includes cardigans, sweaters, vests, jackets, and a dress, as well as shawls, socks, hats, mittens, and even a tie. Susan created the designs to resemble heirloom pieces, well-loved and handed down through generations, with stories interwoven into their fabric.

The book showcases the continuing impact of others on each of us, and how inspiration often works: creating layers within layers, echoes within echoes.

“Every piece of this collection is carefully intertwined with the next: stories, inspiration, colours and yarns are all different yet connected, creating a knitted tapestry, echoes of each one woven together. I hope you enjoy knitting them as much as I have done!”

Susan Crawford is a British knitwear designer, fashion historian and author, known for her work on modernising vintage knitwear patterns. She lives in the Lake District in North West England — an area with stunning landscapes that also impact her work. Susan is particularly inspired by the stories carried within textiles and the intertwining of history and stitches. Echoes is Susan’s eighth book.

Friends in Food

From the very beginning, food has been an essential part of Laine. Thus, it only felt natural to add cooking to the genres our small publishing house focuses on.
Friends in Food by Pia Alapeteri is a fillable book for everyone who sometimes eats together with family and friends. Gradually, a lovely database for dinners, birthday parties, cottage weekends and everyday meals grows in between the covers, listing friends’ diets and allergies, favourite foods and ingredients they cannot stand. No more guessing how many guests drink tea, who loves coriander, which plant milk anyone’s coffee needs, or who loves gin & tonic – all of this with a twinkle in the eye.

The book also consists of short and encouraging true stories of eating together, simple recipes, and tips that make it easier to gather around a common table.

Pia Alapeteri is a food influencer, storyteller and an entrepreneur from Helsinki, Finland. She writes medium dry stories about food, wine and a little bit about love, too. Family and friends, food, a sustainable lifestyle and the unique Finnish nature are at the top of her priority list. In her blog, Pia shares memorable food experiences, the results of her experimentative cooking, heartfelt encounters, cottage journal entries and tales from her trips in Finland.

Knits from the LYS
44,00 EUR
A Collection by Espace Tricot Knits from the LYS: A Collection by Espace Tricot captures everything we love about our local yarn stores. Exciting patterns, yarns both familiar and new, and helpful tips on getting the best results.

For over 10 years, Espace Tricot has been the LYS (local yarn store) at the heart of Monkland Village in Montreal, Canada. Serving such a creative, artistic and multicultural community directly inspired this collaborative collection.

Designers and shop owners Stephanie Earp and Naomi Endicott have assembled a range of patterns that offer something for every knitter. The 15 patterns feature a variety of structures, constructions, difficulty levels and techniques. Challenge yourself or stay in your comfort zone — it is up to you!

The book includes designs from the following designers: Stephanie Earp & Naomi Endicott (designs and creative direction), Carolyn Bloom, Olesia Lewyckyj Jarymowycz, Jocelyne Malric, Mona Schmidt, Andie Schmidt and Dianna Walla.

Stephanie Earp was born in Toronto, studied in Chicago, Boston and Kingston, and now lives in Montreal. She came to knitting in her twenties when she mistook a copy of Vogue Knitting for Vogue. She made one of the sweaters from that issue and never looked back. Stephanie’s designs have appeared in many publications.

Naomi Endicott grew up surrounded by knitters and makers, but it wasn’t until she took a Saturday job at the local yarn store that she dared to believe she could have a career in knitting. After completing a Master’s in Knitwear Design, Heritage, and Production in Scotland, she returned to Montreal to set up a dye studio and to work at Espace Tricot.

Jenna Kostet (@ihtiriekkoknits) is a writer and a knitwear designer known for enchanting patterns, such as the Suolaulu Sweater which has been made by thousands of knitters around the world. She has studied ethnology and folkloristics and has published numerous historical novels and children’s books in Finland. In her knitwear designs, Jenna places importance on the stories, the continuation of traditions and the joy of creativity.

Knitted Kalevala by Jenna Kostet includes 18 knitting patterns – sweaters, cardigans and accessories – inspired by Kalevala. Considered a national epic in Finland, Kalevala contains old poems full of Baltic-Finnic mythology, ancient symbols, mythical creatures and nature. These as well as other Finnish, Scandinavian and Baltic influences can be seen in the decorative colorwork patterns of the designs. They are also a wonderful alternative to the popular Icelandic sweaters.

All of the designs are knitted in one piece and the colorwork only uses two colours at the same time, making them accessible to all levels of knitters. The patterns use a variety of lighter and heavier yarns and include several options for suitable yarns.

Making Memories
33,00 EUR
Timeless Children's Knits "Making Memories: Timeless Knits for children"  is a charming collection by Claudia Quintanilla. It includes 25 knits for children — from cardigans, sweaters and two cosy blankets to smaller pieces, like socks and mittens. The majority of patterns are graded from newborns to 10-year-olds and feature various yarns as well as knitting techniques. What about a colourwork pullover, an all-over lace scarf or an embroidered cardigan? The classic knits combined with the dreamy photography and playful illustrations create a children’s knitwear book unlike anything seen in this genre before.

Claudia Quintanilla is a yarn shop owner and knitwear designer based in Toronto, Canada. Originally from El Salvador, Claudia found the colder climate of Canada to be the perfect setting for knitting. However, it wasn’t until she stayed at home to care for her young daughter, that she found the rare combination of pleasure, tranquility and passion in knitting. This journey culminated in the founding of her Toronto-based brick-and-mortar yarn shop, Eweknit & Craft. Making Memories is her second book.

Mouche & friends

Seamless Toys to knit and love
SOLD OUT

Mouche & Friends is Cinthia Vallet’s debut book that includes patterns for 12 knitted toy animals, plus their garments and accessories. Come meet Mouche the Bear and his lovely friends: Henri the Orangutan, Agi the Sheep, Billie the Raccoon, and others!

Cinthia’s toy-making process is unique and totally seamless. The animals are knitted with natural fibres and worked in the round, starting from the nose and knitting down to the feet — growing a toy rather than building it. It is fascinating to see how these little creatures come alive while knitting.

The book is meant for knitters of all kinds. Cinthia walks her readers through the techniques step-by-step with clear, illustrated tutorials, which makes knitting easy and enjoyable. She also shares her tips on working small circumferences, picking yarns and preparing a toolbox for toy-making.

Mouche & Friends: Seamless Toys to Knit and Love is more than a knitting book. It is a charming imaginary world filled with love and friendship, waiting to welcome you.

“With this book, I’d like to offer you a poetic break that conveys the spirit of childhood; an enchanted digression where you allow yourself to dream and play,” Cinthia says.

Cinthia Vallet is a designer living in Nantes, France, with her husband, four children and furry companions. She is known for her charming, seamlessly knitted toy animals. They started to take shape in her mind after she discovered the magic of seamless knitting, and her first pattern was published in 2018. Cinthia realised that if you can make a sock and shape a heel, then you can also shape a little animal directly on the needles.

With an aesthetic rooted in her passion for children’s literature, Cinthia develops her characters as an illustrator would do, but with wool and three dimensions. She gives each one a name, a story, a little soul and a lot of herself.

Worsted - A Knitwear Collection
30,00 EUR
Curated by Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée
SOLD OUT

Worsted – A Knitwear Collection Curated by Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée is a knitwear collection featuring 14 patterns by 10 incredible designers. The designers all have their unique style and speak to many kinds of knitters. Now they come together to form a beautifully cohesive collection. You can find garments such as sweaters and cardigans and accessories like shawls and hats, with techniques ranging from stripes and stranded colourwork to cables and textured stitch patterns.

Aimée Gille was born and raised in Kansas, the United States, and later moved to France, where her passion for knitting was reignited. In Paris, where she now lives with her family, she first opened L’OisiveThé, a wonderful knitting café, and later La Bien Aimée, a yarn company whose gorgeous hand-dyed yarns are sold worldwide.

With Worsted, Aimée wanted to create a tangible way to connect with people through
knitting and bring joy. During the challenges of the last 18 months, Aimée found comfort in immersing herself in creating a new yarn base, Corrie Worsted, and inspired by it, all of the designs in the book are worked in worsted weight yarn.

Strands of Joy Vol. II

Strands of Joy II is the highly anticipated sequel to Anna Johanna’s popular first book. This new collection is themed around big colorwork patterns and untreated wool yarn. The book contains 17 knitting patterns ranging from sweaters and cardigans to accessories. All the designs have been inspired by Anna Johanna’s youth, sprinkling the modern knits with a dash of nostalgia for the turn of the millennium.

“Spend a bit of time with me reminiscing, get lost in your own memories and knit new ones into the stitches on your needles. That is what knits do, after all — carry memories with them.”

Anna Johanna is a knitwear designer from Jyväskylä, Central Finland. She is known for her often-romantic knits with much love for details, textures and colors. Since 2020, this former statistician has been designing full-time. Anna Johanna’s debut book, Strands of Joy, was published in 2021.
