"So I invite you to join us, this small band of traveling friends, sharing a little glimpse of the isle from my outsider’s perspective. I offer you a small collection in my own style of Fair Isle knitting, which I hope honors the tradition, even though my work isn’t especially traditional."
Mary Jane Mucklestone is a knitwear designer, teacher and author who has specialized in Fair Isle knitting, also called stranded knitting. Her work has been featured in publications like Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits and various books. Mary Jane has a varied background in art and textiles earning a BFA in Printmaking from Pratt Institute, studying fashion at Parsons School of Design and Textiles and Historic Costume at the University of Washington. With her friend Gudrun Jonston, they host popular once in a lifetime trips to Shetland. Fair Isle Weekend will be her fifth book. Find more about Mary Jane at MaryJaneMucklestone.com

Friends in Food
From the very beginning, food has been an essential part of Laine. Thus, it only felt natural to add cooking to the genres our small publishing house focuses on.
Friends in Food by Pia Alapeteri is a fillable book for everyone who sometimes eats together with family and friends. Gradually, a lovely database for dinners, birthday parties, cottage weekends and everyday meals grows in between the covers, listing friends’ diets and allergies, favourite foods and ingredients they cannot stand. No more guessing how many guests drink tea, who loves coriander, which plant milk anyone’s coffee needs, or who loves gin & tonic – all of this with a twinkle in the eye.
The book also consists of short and encouraging true stories of eating together, simple recipes, and tips that make it easier to gather around a common table.
Pia Alapeteri is a food influencer, storyteller and an entrepreneur from Helsinki, Finland. She writes medium dry stories about food, wine and a little bit about love, too. Family and friends, food, a sustainable lifestyle and the unique Finnish nature are at the top of her priority list. In her blog, Pia shares memorable food experiences, the results of her experimentative cooking, heartfelt encounters, cottage journal entries and tales from her trips in Finland.

Anna Johanna is a knitwear designer from Muurame, Central Finland. She is known for her often-romantic knits with much love for details, textures and colours. Since 2020, this former statistician has been designing full-time. Strands of Joy is her debut book. It features 20 versatile colorwork patterns, including sweaters and cardigans as well as an elegant dress, a warming hat and a kid's pullover. The patterns are worked seamlessly from top down. Cast on a mindless two-colour project or let your mind find peace in more complicated knits that require you to stay focused. Adult sweater and cardigan patterns come in 9–12 sizes and all are graded to fit up to a 62" bust at minimum.
